Pragma’s Partner, Ph.D. Alyona Shulima participated in Mining Day 2024, organized by the European Business Association, which took place in Kyiv on October 21, 2024.

The event featured discussions on the EBA survey results, “Mining in Wartime and Prospects for Development,” the impact of ESG reporting in mining, and the specifics of project financing in this sector.

Invited by the EBA Subsoil Use Committee, Alyona Shulima moderated the second panel, dedicated to ESG issues in mining.

The panel speakers included UMGI CEO Andriy Horokhov, Executive Director of the Association of Gas Production Companies Artem Petrenko, ArcelorMittal KryvyiRih’s Sustainable Development Project Director Olga Semkiv, Director of the Geological Investment Group Iryna Suprun, and Founder of ESG Liga in Ukraine and President of the PAEW Association Liudmyla Tsyhanok.

They addressed key aspects of ESG reporting, differences between ESG and CSR, examined ESG through the lens of CSRD, and discussed how ESG investment aligns global investments in mining and why it is essential for Ukrainian companies to treat ESG reporting as a necessity.
